Institute Strategic Programme Grant (ISPG) - Resilient Crops
The Institute Strategic Programme Grant (ISPG) is funded through a Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) grant, which provides long-term, strategic funding at the institute level rather than supporting individual researchers or standalone projects.
This enables IBERS to coordinate expertise across disciplines, bringing together crop genetics, phenotyping at scale, and sustainable agriculture to address major global challenges such as climate change, food security, and environmental sustainability.
Our Resilient Crops programme funded by BBSRC will improve the economic, productive and environmental sustainability of crops in the face of climatic change.
Our focus is around improving and increasing the resilience to climate change of grasses for forage, biomass, biorenewable feedstocks, healthy food and environmental services. Resilient Crops comprises four themes:
