'DDMI History': Environment and Oceans

This project investigates the DDMI's history and focuses on research on environment degradation. The DDMI explored themes of ocean pollution and conservation from the late 1960s until the early 1980s. In 1970 the institute held a conference on 'LAW, SCIENCE AND POLITICS: Water Pollution and Its Effects Considered as a World Problem' in Gregynog. The conference's innovative cross-disciplinary approach was a strong point for academic rigour and consensus building, one that might merit contemporary emulations. Following the conference, the DDMI ran several research groups investigating oceanic pollution, publishing rigorous reports that following in the spirit of the conference and conveyed actionable recommendation.
