Sociology of UK International Relations (2013-2017)

Staff involved (PI): Inanna Hamati-Ataya

This is an EC-funded FP7 project (FP7-PEOPLE-2012-CIG) that aims to investigate the macro- and micro-social factors and processes governing the production, organization, transmission, and diffusion of IR knowledge, taking the UK as a case-study. It combines a socio-historical analysis of the development of the field within its national academic and socio-political environments, with an ethnographic investigation of IR scholars’ representations, values, dispositions, and socio-academic practices. The overall objective is to illuminate the material and ideational factors that shape scholarly standpoints and practice, and thereby advance a praxeological approach to epistemology.
