Katja Daniels supports and monitors the implementation of AU’s institutional strategy for the HEFCW Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) funding (2018 – 2021). This includes setting up and managing internal funding competitions and supporting successful projects post-award; organising meetings and events for the Centre for International Development Research at Aberystwyth (CIDRA); supporting the development of new institutional research partnerships with a select few universities in DAC list countries; and financial monitoring and external reporting of the programme.

Before starting this post, Katja worked in RB&I as a Research Development Officer for the Social Sciences, which included supporting researchers with the development of grant applications and social science departments with a variety of research activities. Katja completed a PhD in the Department of International Politics at AU in 2015, where she also worked as a Seminar Teacher on a wide range of courses. Her thesis focused on International Investment Law and the Environment, drawing upon critical theories of global politics. She holds an MScEcon in International Relations Theory (Distinction) from AU, and a BA in International Relations (Class I) from the University of Exeter.
