Madalen Reid is a PhD candidate in International Politics at Aberystwyth University. Her doctoral research explores the relationship between the security forces and loyalist paramilitaries during the conflict in Northern Ireland.
She holds degrees from the London School of Economics (MSc Conflict Studies), Aberystwyth (MA War, Strategy and Intelligence) and St Andrews (MA International Relations and Modern History).
Her research interests focus on the history and politics of counterinsurgency, pro-state terrorism, counterterrorism, intelligence, and covert action, with a particular focus on the conflict in Northern Ireland.
