WorkingWith Microsoft conference at Aberystwyth Tues 18 and Wed 19th December
18/12/2023
A two-day conference WorkingWith Microsoft Technologies in Education (bangor.ac.uk) is being held at Aberystwyth University to network, discuss and share common themes between Welsh Universities with those who interact with Microsoft technology on a daily basis. Organised by the Higher Education Wales Information Technology group (HEWIT) of Directors of Information Technology drawn from all universities institutions across Wales, previous WorkingWith Microsoft events in 2017, 2019 and 2021 have been successful and the feedback so positive. The 2023 conference represents a return to an in-person event following the 2021 on-line delivery during the pandemic.
Universities in Wales are all adopting the same Microsoft technologies, at different stages, in various parts of their infrastructure. There have been a lot of changes since the first event in 2017: Teams. Windows 10, M365, MFA, Power BI, Intune, M365 Security functionality, etc. are all technologies firmly established within our universities. This conference will be looking to the next phase of Microsoft technology adoption which includes AI and co-pilot, cyber security, the latest versions of Windows, mobile device management, Dynamics Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and making more use of existing technologies to deliver better value for money. HEWIT's WorkingWith event is the only event in the UK which brings together regional universities to discuss, network, and share under a common Microsoft theme.
The event provides the opportunity to:
- Develop links between technology staff across Welsh Universities opening up opportunities for collaboration
- Compare experiences with Microsoft technologies
- Discuss future direction of technologies, opportunities and challenges with Microsoft, partners, and the Welsh Universities
The conference will be running a raffle to raise money for the Vice Chancellor’s charity of the year Wales Air Ambulance.
