John Gough is Professor of Theoretical & Mathematical Physics at Aberystwyth where he leads research in quantum open systems with special emphasis on quantum control. 

Professor John Gough is a Personal Chair in the Department of Physics at Aberystwyth University and an internationally recognised researcher in theoretical and mathematical physics, with particular expertise in quantum control, open quantum systems, quantum feedback networks, quantum filtering, and quantum information technologies. He leads research on the modelling and control of complex quantum systems, developing mathematical frameworks that are important for emerging quantum technologies such as quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum communication. His work has attracted external funding and has resulted in a substantial body of peer‑reviewed research, with more than one hundred research outputs. [research.aber.ac.uk]
