To mark Global Entrepreneurship Week, Aberystwyth University will be running a series of events from the 15th – 19th November 2010.

Aberystwyth University’s Enterprise Week programme offers staff, students and graduates the opportunity to discover more about business start-up and enterprise support accessible through Commercialisation and Consultancy Services at the University.

“Whether you have a specific business idea in mind; are interested in enhancing your entrepreneurial skills; or are keen to discover more about self employment through hearing first hand from successful entrepreneurs, there is an event  which may be of interest to you” explained Tony Orme, Commercial Spinout Manager and coordinator of the Crisalis Enterprise Network.

To mark the start of the week, the Crisalis Student Enterprise Club will be hosting a guest speaker presentation on Monday 15th November. “DK” of Media Snackers will be taking potential entrepreneurs through a colourful analysis of communicating and marketing through “new media”; how to use Twitter; Facebook and various other methods for targeted communication. This promises to be a lively and thought-provoking presentation to which all are welcome…..staff; graduates and students.

On Tuesday 16th November the Crisalis Enterprise Network will launch the ‘£100 for 100 words’ competition.  Do you have an idea for a new product or service which could be turned into a viable business? Students submitting their ideas in no more than 100 words will be in with a chance of winning a £100 cash prize.  Competition rules and application form available online.

On Wednesday, 17th, students are invited to look forward and find out about forthcoming enterprise opportunities.  Might you be interested in the possibility of becoming a Crisalis Student Intern in 2011, representing Aberystwyth University at a national enterprise competition (FLUX) or attending future Business Start-up Weeks in January or June?   If so, sign up for this informative Crisalis Student Enterprise Club briefing event.

Why not start the day on Thursday 18th with a ‘bacon butty’ at the Crisalis Student Enterprise Club networking event?  Join members of the enterprise team from Commercialisation and Consultancy Services and hone your networking skills, meeting others with an interest in ‘Enterprise’, over a light breakfast.

For individuals with an interest in starting their own business, the GSS Taster Session being held on Friday 19th November, will provide an overview of the issues and processes involved with setting up a new enterprise.

Throughout the week the Crisalis Enterprise Network will have an information stand in the Students’ Union.  Drop by for further information on the week’s events, meet our Crisalis Student Interns and try out the brand new ‘Enterprise Catalyst Tool’ to discover whether you have what it takes to become an entrepreneur.

As part of Enterprise Week, CCS will also be launching a Guide providing useful information for Academic Staff at Aberystwyth, relating to Intellectual Property and Commercialisation.
