Aberystwyth University won two coveted awards at the 2023 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCA) which were held in London on Wednesday 26 April.

Aberystwyth picked up awards for Lecturers and Teaching Quality and Student Life at a black-tie ceremony hosted by comedian, actor and writer Ellie Taylor.

Aberystwyth University was also third overall in the University of the Year category, the highest placed Welsh university.

Now in their tenth year, this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards saw 35,000 verified student reviews generated from over 240 higher education institutions across the whole of the UK. 

Professor Tim Woods, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning, Teaching and Student Experience at Aberystwyth University said: “This is excellent news and richly deserved recognition of the dedication of colleagues across the institution to providing a first-rate student experience at Aberystwyth University. These awards draw on reviews provided by our current students and underline once more Aberystwyth’s long-standing reputation as one of the best universities in the UK for student experience and teaching excellence.”

Aberystwyth was shortlisted in five of the 12 categories that made up the 2023 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, with Facilities and Halls and Student Accommodation featured.

The most recent National Student Survey, released in July 2022, showed that Aberystwyth University was top in England and Wales for overall student satisfaction, based on the universities that featured in the 2022 edition of The Times / Sunday Times Good University Guide.

Aberystwyth is also top in Wales and in the top 3 in the UK for Student Experience and Teaching Quality in the 2023 edition of the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide.
