Role Summary: Supports the strategic and operational delivery of research and innovation activities across the University, working with senior leaders, faculties, and professional services to coordinate planning, governance, and key projects within the RBI Directorate.

Date joined RBI and previous employment

Emma joined RBI as a Research Development Officer for the Department of Life Sciences in August 2022. Before that, Emma completed her PhD in DLS, which focused on investigating alternative models for Alzheimer's Disease, and specifically investigated the behavioural and molecular suitability of the sheep, as a large animal model. Emma has also previously worked as an Associate Lecturer within the department and as a Knowledge Exchange Fellow with Farming Connect.

Main responsibilities within RBI

Emma's role is to support the submission of research grant applications, and to provide support with searching for grant funding opportunities, drafting cases of support, calculating costs, completing application forms and helping staff understand internal and external research grant procedures.

Most enjoyable part of working at Aberystwyth University

Emma enjoys working alongside all of the researchers in DLS, and especially enjoys being the first to hear about all of the amazing research projects that are in the pipeline at the University.
