Letter of Introduction to UK Banking Facilities
If you are an International Student and wish to open a bank account in Aberystwyth you may need to request a Letter of Introduction to UK Banking facilities.
Once you have formally registered as a student with the University you can request a letter to support your request to open a bank account in Aberystwyth.
Before you request the letter you must have chosen the bank you wish to apply to open an account with. The banks available in Aberystwyth are:
Halifax plc, HSBC Bank plc, Barclays Bank plc, TSB bank plc, Nationwide Building Society, NatWest Bank plc, Santander
If you need to request a letter for use with Nationwide Building Society or Barclays Bank plc, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
You MUST make sure that your name on your student record appears as it does on your Passport. If you wish to request a change to your name you can do this under the Personal Section of your Student Record.
You must have a term and home address listed on your student record otherwise your request will not be processed.
To request the letter you must log into your student record on the web:
Log into http://www.aber.ac.uk/en/student/
Under the heading Your Sites click on Student Record
You will need your Aberystwyth username and password to log in
Once you have logged in, click on Personal and choose Student Letter Requests. By the heading New Request choose Bank Letter.
If your name or address is incorrect and you need to change this you can do so by choosing the ‘incorrect’ button and this will direct you to the area to change your details. If you are missing a home or term address on your record you will not be able to proceed with your request.
You must then confirm your course and choose the bank that you wish to apply for an account with.
The letter will generate immediately if you choose to print it yourself.
You can print the letter from the Hugh Owen Library or from any location with a colour printer but it MUST be printed in colour.
The letter will be available to reprint from your Student Record for a period of 7 days.
