Student Visa Compliance
Arrival and plans for the 2021/22 academic year
Last year successive lockdowns and international travel restrictions meant the University provided all learning sessions on all courses online. As the situation is now much improved, the University is keen to offer students the best learning experience and outcomes by providing as much face to face teaching as possible. This means that the level of online provision will not be at the same level as last year. As such, students are expected to return to Aberystwyth to resume their studies in person.
If any student faces difficulty returning to Aberystwyth by the start of term 27th Sept 2021 they should contact the Compliance team for advice. Where possible, the University will try to help students who may face delays in returning to the UK in time for the start of term. Students should make every effort to arrive in Aberystwyth by the latest registration date of 15th October 2021.
On 5 October 2020, the UK government made changes to the immigration route for students. The 'Tier 4' route has now become the 'Student' route. If you hold a Tier 4 visa, the rules relating to Student Visa apply.
Aberystwyth University is a registered ‘sponsor’ under the Point-Based Immigration system (PBS). This gives us the ability to recruit and sponsor students who are nationals of countries outside of the UK/Republic of Ireland. The Home Office places responsibilities on students and universities to ensure immigration laws are followed.
As a sponsor, Aberystwyth University must fulfil all obligations reuired by the UKVI in order to sponsor you as a student. It is your responsibility, as sponsored students, to comply with the conditions of your visa, please refer to the guidance on Student Visa Responsibilities
