Karen Westendorf

BA (Wales) MA (Wales)

After a career in the tourism industry spanning nearly 20 years, Karen returned to higher education to study Museum & Gallery Studies (BA Hons) and Art History (MA) at Aberystwyth University. Following a season with the National Trust, she joined the School of Art, where she now works with the School's collections.

Karen's role involves supporting the curation and installation of exhibitions, caring for the collections and collections database, facilitating access for students, staff and visiting researchers, coordinating artwork loans, organising events and creating content for the School of Art Museum and Galleries blog.

In addition to her collections work, Karen delivers regular German-language talks inspired by the School's exhibitions and collections, offering opportunities for language learners and enthusiasts to engage with art through German. She also contributes to teaching in areas related to her research interests, which include Victorian illustration and the decolonisation of museums.
