Year in Employment Scheme (YES)

Taking a year out to work during your degree course is an excellent way to develop skills, confidence and career focus, motivating you to perform at a higher level in your studies and on entering the graduate labour market.

At Aberystwyth University, two options for a year in employment are available:

  1. Integrated degree schemes4-year or 5-year 'integrated' degree courses include a 'Year in Industry' as part of the planned programme of study ('Industrial Placement' or 'sandwich' year). Speak to your personal tutor and/or staff in your academic department about the arrangements for the Year in Industry. For information on changing onto or off an integrated degree scheme, click here.
  2. Year in Employment Scheme (YES)
    For those not following an integrated programme, YES (administered by the Careers and Employability Service) enables students from a range of subjects to undertake a year in employment between the second and third year of undergraduate study.
