Aber Plus

‌‌‌Aber+ is a joint venture between the Careers and Accessibility Services.

The scheme is designed to help students who have a learning difference or disability access the full range of information and support provided by the Careers Service and also enable them to be ready to make a successful transition from higher education to the graduate labour market.

A key aim of the scheme is that students have an increased understanding of what employability is and are better equipped with career management skills to help them fulfil their career potential.

Throughout the academic year there are a number of events organised such as workshops focusing on recognising skills, disclosure, self-marketing, CVs and applications and finding work experience.

Careers drop-in sessions are also arranged in Student Support to allow students to access careers guidance in an environment they are comfortable in.

The scheme works closely with the GO Wales scheme to support students gain bespoke supported work experience opportunities.

Students have the option of completing a short portfolio which if completed and attended at least two workshops and a careers guidance

The Careers Service has developed an equality and diversity webpage which includes links to videos and information on subjects such as finding positive employers and disclosure.
