Research Training Workshop 'The Nuclear Security Dilemma in Northeast Asia'

At the beginning of May 2007, the DDMI co-hosted a research workshop with the Security Research Group of the Department of International Politics. The event featured presentations by a number of eminent practitioners and research students on the subject of the ‘Nuclear Security Dilemma in Northeast Asia’, a key research area of the Institute. These included several former and current members of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), including Jim Hoare, Patrick Lamb, Andrew Barlow and Euan Graham. Pam Tremont (State Department), Erwin Tan (PhD candidate, UWA) and Justin Wong (PhD candidate, University of Southampton) also gave papers. The event was funded by the 'Roberts Skills Training Funds' and held under the Chatham House rule – this facilitated lively discussion and debate straddling both the academic and policy-making spheres.
