New Dehli WISCOMP Meeting Annual Conflict Transformation Workshop

In December 2007, Professor Wheeler acted as an academic facilitator at the Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP) sixth Annual Conflict Transformation Workshop in New Delhi. The purpose of these workshops was to bring together the next generation of Indian and Pakistani leaders from academia, think-tanks, NGOs, and the media to explore the possibilities of building trust through dialogue and peacebuilding exercises.

Professor Wheeler delivered a lecture on trust-building in International Relations, and ran a series of role-playing exercises involving Indian and Pakistani participants putting themselves in the role of the other, and break-out groups where participants worked together to devise new trust-building moves that might promote peace between their two countries.
