New director for the Centre for Education Studies
Lynwen Rees Jones has been appointed Director of the Centre for Education Studies - y Ganolfan Astudiaethau Addysg (CAA), at UWA.

Lynwen takes over from Helen Emanuel Davies who did some excellent work in attracting projects to the Centre from organisations such as the Qualifications, Curriculum and Assessment Authority for Wales (ACCAC). During her time as director CAA published over 300 titles in English and Welsh.

Lynwen is originally from Treboeth, Swansea and was a pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera before studying Chemistry and Business Studies here at Aberystwyth. She was a teacher at Caereinion Secondary School between 1989 and 1994 where she taught Cehmistry/Science and Mathematics through the medium of Welsh and English. Following this she worked as a freelance translator for several years whilst bringing up a family, before working as editor/project manager for CAA, and then as Director.

During the last year CAA has won grants totalling £500,000 from ACCAC as well as a significant project from ELWA. CAA is now looking forward to successful period under Lynwen's directorship.
During October CAA held a launch event for the series Henri Helynt.

S4C presenter Alun Elidir visited Ysgol Gymunedol Talybont where he read some of the books to pupils in years 3 and 4. The pupils were thrilled to hear of Henri's adventures and are pictured with Alun, members of staff at CCA, including Lynwen, the new Director.
