One Aberystwyth graduate who has made the most of the Business Start-Up Week is Agustín de Burgos López from Spain, who runs Don Salvodor Explora www.donsalvadorexplora.com.  He runs the business from an office at Aberystwyth Science Park whilst also working as a Spanish tutor at the town's university, where he gained a degree in economics and a masters in human geography.

Agustín sells guided walks for small groups of up to eight people in the Spanish central regions of Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León and the western region of Extremadura.

His plans to run his own business were crystallised during the g2e Business Start Up Week last year. He attended all of the workshops to refresh his business knowledge, to receive valuable advice from experts and to network.

"Developing a business idea may initially seem very easy," said Agustín. "The Business Start Up Week brings you down to earth and makes you consider all the challenges that you will face when starting a business.

"My g2e mentor Paul Stait was a great help, as I had to prepare a detailed business plan and accounts for my KEF Scholarship application."

He has received free mentoring support from the g2e programme, which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and delivered in partnership with the University of Wales Aberystwyth and other academic centres across the Principality.

"The g2e Business Start-Up Week workshops have proved to be a successful launch pad for hundreds of students throughout Wales who have gone on to start their own business in the last eight years," said Jacqui Niven, g2e programme manager.

Demand is high and places are awarded on a first come first served basis.
