The Centre for the Development of Staff and Academic Practice (CDSAP) at Aberystwyth University has been commended for its work at the prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership & Management Awards which were held at the London Hilton Hotel on June 9th.

CDSAP, which forms part of the University's Department of Human Resources, was short-listed in the Outstanding Human Resources Team category and also nominated in the category for Outstanding Human Resources Initiative.

Susan Chambers, Director of Human Resources at Aberystwyth University said:
“This commendation means that the CDSAP team has received national recognition for its work in harnessing the extensive in-house expertise of University staff alongside external experts to create new courses such as the Certificate in Supporting Students.”

“This course builds on Aberystwyth University's reputation as being one of the best in the UK for both ‘Student Experience’ and ‘Student Satisfaction’, which it has earned by equipping staff with the skills they need to effectively deal with a range of students issues,” she added.

Working with the School of Education and Lifelong Learning (SELL) and other Welsh Higher Education Institutions including Bangor University, Swansea University, University of Wales Lampeter and University of Wales Institute Cardiff, CDSAP also delivers courses for the professional development of academic staff such as the Higher Education Academy accredited Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE) which enrolls around forty new academic staff a year.

Whilst in London, members of CDSAP and the Director of Human Resources, Susan Chambers, were invited to the House of Commons by Mark Williams MP to discuss the professional development work they are undertaking at the University.
