Support for business

07 October 2010

Universities offer a wealth of expertise, facilities and services which businesses can harness to improve their competitive edge.

For businesses with no previous experience of collaborating with a University, knowing how to access these resources and who to approach may seem confusing. The reality, however, is much more straightforward, as Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities will illustrate through a series of 'Services to Business' events to be held in Mid and North Wales this Autumn.

The events will highlight how businesses can access the leading edge research, expertise and world class facilities at our two institutions, together with the mechanisms and funding opportunities which are available to support University - Business collaboration, explained David Craddock, Director of Enterprise and Collaborative projects at Aberystwyth University.

  • A key theme of the events is to highlight the range of services which can be accessed through a central enquiry service, including:
  • Access to innovative thinking and new technologies
  • Opportunities to benefit from leading edge research capabilities and expertise
  • Access to continuing professional development courses & bespoke staff training
  • Opportunities to recruit highly skilled employees
  • Graduate placements and projects
  • Links to local and global networks

We look forward to welcoming businesses and organisations from across Mid and North Wales to these events.Whether your organisation has worked with Aberystwyth or Bangor Universities before, or are considering our services for the first time, these events will outline current opportunities and provide a chance to meet with colleagues from the Universities Knowledge Transfer Offices added Dr David Joyner, Director of Business Partnership and Engagement at Bangor University.

Aside from networking opportunities within the exhibition area, the event programme includes a short presentation on 'Working with Universities' alongside the opportunity to hear first hand from a guest speaker who will share their business perspective on 'The Benefits of Working Collaboratively'.
