Aberystwyth University Lived Experience Advisory Panel

The Aberystwyth University Lived Experience Advisory Panel brings together people from across the UK who use their lived experience to help shape research, teaching, and innovation at Aberystwyth University. Our members are experts by experience, bringing unique knowledge and perspectives that complement academic and professional expertise. The panel has been co-designed with its members to ensure that involvement is meaningful, respectful, and collaborative. Members have lived experience across a wide range of areas, including mental ill health, physical disability, neurodiversity, stroke survival, unpaid caring responsibilities, psychiatric care and support, involvement with the criminal justice system, military service, and many other life experiences. Alongside this, many members have extensive experience of contributing to research as public contributors, interview panellists, co-authors, grant co-applicants, and intervention co-designers.
How can the panel support your work? The panel can contribute to projects at any stage, including:
- Developing research ideas
- Strengthening funding and grant applications
- Reviewing participant information and study materials
- Advising on study design, accessibility, and inclusivity
- Co-designing interventions, services, and resources
- Supporting public involvement and engagement activities
- Contributing to teaching and student learning where appropriate
Whether you are planning a new project or looking to strengthen an existing one, the panel can help ensure that lived experience informs decision-making from the outset.
