Completing your Application

When we are ready to receive your application, we will contact you directly.

The process to apply for exchange at Aberystwyth University follows a two-step process.

Please click the below drop down buttons to find out more about our application process.

Step 1 - Your Online Application

When we are ready to receive applications, we will contact you directly and invite you to complete an online application form.

The application should take around 20 minutes to complete, and you should make sure you have your passport to hand as you will need it to complete the process.

Please note that it is not possible to save the progress of your application once you have begun.

Online applications will close at midnight (BST) on the application deadline date. Failure to submit your application and supporting documents by this deadline will mean your application will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.

Step 2 - Your Supporting Documents

In addition to your online application, you will also need to submit supporting documentation. If you are submitting any documents that are not in English, you need to submit an official English translation of the document too.

There are several documents you need to submit as part of your application, which include:

 1. A Transcript of Records

This should be an official Transcript of Records issued by your home university of your most recent grades and should be on letterheaded paper and signed by your home university.

2. Copy of a valid Passport

Your passport should be valid for the duration of your proposed stay in Aberystwyth. If you do not have a valid passport, you should apply for one as soon as possible.

3. Evidence of English Language Ability*

If you are joining us from an Erasmus Partner University, you must provide evidence of meeting The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Level B2 in English or equivalent.

If you joining us from an International Partner University or as a Direct Enrol student, you must provide evidence that you meet the Aberystwyth University English Language Requirements for your chosen department/subject.

In addition to the English language tests and qualifications detailed in the above links, a range of Country-Specific Qualifications are also acceptable.

*There are some incidences where students will not need to provide evidence of English language ability. Please use our English Language Requirements quiz to find out if/what type of evidence you need to provide to apply for exchange or study abroad at Aberystwyth University.

4. An Academic Reference

An Academic Reference should be written by either an Academic Tutor or Study Abroad Advisor.

The reference should be between 100 (minimum) – 300 (maximum) words long and should include details of the students’ academic standing and demonstrate why they believe the student would be a good candidate to study abroad at Aberystwyth University.

What we are really looking for are students who have a strong interest in their subject area, who are keen to engage with their chosen programme, are driven and are keen to expand their horizons.

Supporting documents should be submitted to global@aber.ac.uk by midnight on the application deadline.
