Changes to Federal Aid as of July 1 2026 and applicable to all new students

The Reconciliation Act 2025 has made important changes to Title IV Federal Aid, particularly in relation to PLUS loans:

  • Current borrowers who received a PLUS loan before July 1, 2026 for their current course of study, can continue to borrow under the old rules for:
    • Up to three more academic years, or
    • Until they finish their current program, whichever comes first.
  • Graduate PLUS loans will no longer be available for new graduate students starting on or after July 1, 2026.
  • Parent PLUS loans are still available, but limited to:
    • $20,000 per year per dependent student.
    • $65,000 maximum total per dependent student.

You must complete the following in order to receive your loan disbursement on the scheduled date:

  • enter bank details on the Convera Platform
  • the Loan Borrower of the Parent PLUS loan must provide consent for surplus funds to be sent to the nominated bank account (if applicable)
  • complete online registration and accept the University's regulations
  • meet all Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.

Important: Your loan may be delayed if you do not meet the SAP requirements and have not entered any bank details into the Convera payment portal.
