The Trio Sci Cymru Team

Leading the project are Principal Investigators Professor Andrew Evans and Professor Joanne Hamilton. Professor Andrew Evans is Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Physics and Head of the materials physics research group. Professor Joanne Hamilton worked closely with secondary schools throughout West Wales when she led the Sustainability Network Wales (SusNet) programme.

The school’s outreach programme is managed by Rachel Rees and Dr. Scott Tompsett. Both are experienced science teachers who between them have worked in many of the local schools. Also helping with the development and delivery of material are Science Outreach Associates Carys Huntly, Lauren Colbeck Kirby and Martin Nelmes who all have extensive experience in Science Outreach. Each member participating in the project has their own specialisation within Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

Providing academic expertise in Physics and Biology are lecturers Dr. Rachel Cross and Dr. Jo Wallace. Dr. Rachel Cross is a Lecturer and Early Career Researcher in the Department of Physics and Dr. Jo Wallace is a Lecturer in Sport Science.

Supporting the team by providing technical and administrative support are Steve Fearn, Hazel Sharp and Jackie Hedley. Steve Fearn is the director of the Aberystwyth Robotics club (www.aberrobotics.club) and has extensive experience of school’s outreach. Hazel Sharp is a natural products chemist. She works closely with the team to ensure our biology and chemistry workshops work every time. Jackie Hedley provides financial and administrative support to the team.
