Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the basic directing styles for factual film making by reproducing these on video.
Experiment with alternative directing styles/graphic approaches
Present, in written and oral form, the structure, story and (where appropriate) arguments on which the final (12-15 minute) film will be based
Select and order material to maximize story telling and engage with concepts such as highlighting debate or tension within the film.
Be able to edit three or more sound sources to create a final sound mix.
Demonstrate an understanding of the use of visual effects and split visual editing.
Work effectively within a team environment.
Evaluate his/her own work constructively with a view to improving the outcome next time.
Aims
To provide an opportunity to translate the portfolio work delivered in TF31420 (Production Research-Factual) into a finished film. (Where appropriate).
To introduce students to standard broadcast industry methods and expectations in order to prepare them for entry level positions within a factual televison environment.
Brief description
Through intensive practical work, this module will aim to provide students with advanced editorial and practical skills required in the production of a broadcast quality television factual programme.
