Students visiting us for 6 months or less

If you are visiting Aberystwyth University for 6 months or less you will need to provide documents to the UKVI Compliance team before being allowed to register for your course. You will receive guidance from an email account called dccstaff@aber.ac.uk explaining what documents you need to provide.

Automatic emails containing an upload link will be sent to you at regular intervals. You do not need to upload any documents  until you have arrived in the UK. In most circumstances, visiting students do not need to meet with Compliance Team unless they have specific questions or concerns. When you uploaded documents have been recieved and reviewed, the block to registration will be lifted.

Below are the main categories of visit visas used for entry to the UK. Your nationality usually determines which kind of visit visa you can be granted.

For advice on this please see Visitor visa  : Student Services , Aberystwyth University

Visitor visa issued before travel-visa nationals

If you come from a county that is listed as a visa required country then this means you will have had to apply for a visa before travelling to the UK. The standard visit visa is a physical sticker style visa that is put inside your passport before you travel. If you have been issued with a sticker visa then it would usually be stamped on arrival in the UK.

Students on this kind of visa will be asked to provide:

  • A photo of the visa in the passport with a stamp on it recieved when you entered the UK
  • Copy of your flight details

Visit visa stamps issued on arrival in UK

Some nationalities are able to enter the UK and be granted a visit visa without having to apply before travelling. This takes the form of a physical stamp in your passport.

Students who have been issued with one of these will need to provide:

  • A photo the stamp in their passport
  • Flight details (if date on the stamp is not legible)
