Applicable to all students starting from September 2025

Progression Rules

1. Part One: the module pass mark is 40% and progression rules follow the standard conventions for the Bachelor's Degree: Rules for Progression at Part One

2. Part Two:

i. The module pass mark is 40%.

ii. Students are required to pass all component assessments in all modules at Part Two to be eligible for the award of an IBMS accredited degree.

iii. To progress from one year of study to the next, students must pass a minimum of 100 credits; students are able to continue to the year in industry or the final year carrying failed elements.

iv. Resit conventions are the same as the Bachelor’s Degree (4.2.4 Part Two (Year Two and above) – Students who entered Part Two FROM September 2019).

Exit awards

3. To qualify for the award of BSc Biomedical Science or BSc Biomedical Science (with integrated year in industry), students must pass all component assessments in all modules at Part Two.

4. A candidate who achieves an overall mark of 40% at Part One and satisfies the requirements for the award of a Certificate of Higher Education (AQH4.16) but does not proceed with study will be eligible for the award of CertHE Medical Bioscience.

5. A candidate who achieves an overall mark of 40% or more in year 2 and satisfies the requirements for the award of a Diploma of Higher Education (AQH4.16) but does not proceed with study will be eligible for the award of DipHE Medical Bioscience.

6. A candidate who fails to meet the requirements for the BSc Biomedical Science or BSc Biomedical Science (with integrated year in industry), but meets the AU modular initial degree regulations, will be eligible for the award of BSc Medical Bioscience or BSc Medical Bioscience (with integrated year in industry).
