Postgraduate Research Registration

To become a fully registered student at Aberystwyth University, you must complete the Registration Tasks detailed, below.

This Registration Task will appear in the My Tasks section of your Student Record.

The timing of when you need to complete the Online Registration Task and requirements depends on the type of student you are, how and when you started your studies. The Registration Task Timetables below note the different types of students and explain which Registration Tasks you need to complete and by when - please check the relevant headings for further information.

Online Registration

Online Registration is the final stage to Register to become a student with us.

You will be asked to:

Confirm your personal details
Confirm your Study Scheme details
Accept Aberystwyth University terms and conditions
Complete any outstanding registration requirements

To complete Online Registration, please go to your Student Record, and look for Online Registration under the My Tasks section.

New Postgraduate Research Students

Online Registration opens 4 days before the start date shown on your offer letter and must be completed within 14 days of the start date of your course.

New Postgraduate Research Students - Part-time Study

Students due to register for Part-time Study mode - do not need to be in attendance in Aberystwyth to complete online registration. (For DProf, see category below).

Before you can complete the Online Registration Task in your first year of study you must contact your academic department who will confirm your study scheme. Departmental contact information https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/about-us/departments-faculties/ .

New Postgraduate Research Students - Full-time Study

Students due to register for Full-time Study mode - must be connected to the University network (on campus or via the University intranet) to complete Online Registration. You will not be able to complete Online Registration through a VPN, or on any other network except those formally on a ‘Distance Learning’ mode of study course.

Before you can complete the Online Registration Task you will need to contact the Faculty Admin teams. During welcome week there will be Registration Helpdesks in Hugh Owen Library from Monday 21^st – Wednesday 23^rd September where staff will be able to assist, or signpost you to your department(s), if necessary. At any other time, please visit the International Politics Building, Admin Hub Room 1.15.

Please ensure you do this as early as possible, within the times below, to avoid delays with Online Registration. (For DProf, see category below).

New Postgraduate Research Students - Professional Doctorate (DProf)

All students studying for a Professional Doctorate (DProf) - do not need to be in attendance in Aberystwyth to complete online registration.

Returning Postgraduate Research Students

All Postgraduate Research students must complete online registration.

Returning Postgraduate Research Students (except DProf, see relevant category) - Part-Time

The Online Registration Task will appear in the My Tasks section of your Student Record.

Students who are studying formally as part-time mode of study do not need to be in attendance in Aberystwyth to complete online registration.

Returning Postgraduate Research Students (Except DProf, see relevant category) - Full-Time

Full-time students must be connected to the University network (on campus or via the University intranet) to complete Online Registration. You will not be able to complete Online Registration through a VPN, or on any other network.

Students studying for a Professional Doctorate (DProf) do not need to be in attendance in Aberystwyth to complete online registration.
