Access

The School of Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 17:00.

We are closed over Easter, Christmas and the New Year.

Admission is free

The School of Art building was designed and constructed in the first decade of the 20th century when accessibility was not considered to be such an important issue. The building is now Grade II* listed and making major alterations to the fabric of the building is not always an option in solving accessibility issues. We continue to make improvements to our facilities to ensure that everybody’s visit is as enjoyable and as worthwhile as possible.

The School of Art and the Ceramics Gallery offer a regular programme of changing exhibitions. Please check online that you do not propose to visit during the one-week changeover interval between shows.

Artefacts from the Collection are available for study by appointment. Access details are provided on this site, together with visitor information, addresses, opening times, and amenities.

Certain artefacts may not always be available in Aberystwyth; individual items or substantial groups of works are regularly loaned to museums and galleries throughout the UK and overseas. We can confirm availability prior to your visit.

The Keeper of Art and the Curator of Ceramics are full-time academics who have the additional responsibility for the Art Collections. Each publish widely in their field and are experienced in the principles and practices of museum operation and management. In addition we have a full-time Curator of Collections, a Catalogue and Database Co-ordinator, and a part time Web Site Administrator.

Staff may be contacted by post or email to arrange appointments, answer queries about the Collection, exhibition programme etc.

If you would like to be included on the Gallery Mailing List and receive regular information about our Exhibition Programme, and invitations for you and your friends to attend Private Views, please email your name, address, postcode and preferred email address to museum@aber.ac.uk.
