Ellen Hjort is a post-doctoral research associate at Aberystwyth University working on the Local Policy & Innovation Partnership for Rural Wales (Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales). 

Her PhD in Human Geography at Aberystwyth University focused on rural spatial justice in two case studies, Åsele in Northern Sweden and Llanidloes in Mid Wales. The thesis investigates how sense of belonging and political influence affect future visions and political (dis)engagement. 

Ellen is a qualitative researcher passionate about issues of spatial justice, especially in rural areas, with research interests including belonging, inclusion, citizenship, scales, race, whiteness, representation, identity, and migration.
