Early Career Teachers Pathway
We are excited to announce that from October 2025 we have moved to a more flexible format for supporting excellence in learning and teaching in HE at the University. This new approach will integrate various activities and aligns with broader learning and teaching opportunities across the University.
The first part of the scheme introduces a more informal route for early career academics – including postgraduate researchers (PGRs) – who have sufficient teaching experience to pursue Associate Fellowship of Advance HE.
We encourage Individuals who are interested to complete:
https://www.advance-he.ac.uk/form/fellowship-decision-tool-2023
This will help you to see if you can achieve AFHEA with evidence at present or pipeline to achieving it in the future. You will need to show teaching experience for the last 1-3 years to be eligible for this award.
Each individual will then be asked to attend a Needs Analysis consultation with our team to discuss how you can achieve AFHEA, which will include an action plan.
Introductory workshops, to give an overview of the requirements of AFHEA, have been arranged for later in October 2025
