Congratulations to Mathematics students who graduated last week.

Following the ceremony it was a pleasure to award prizes to a number of graduating students for exceptional performance in Mathematics.

Pennington Prizes for Pure Mathematics, in memory of Prof. Barry Pennington, Head of Pure Mathematics 1961-1968, were awarded for outstanding performance in Pure Mathematics to Cordelia Bryant, Ellie Hyam and James Watkins. 

The O.L. Davies Prize for Statistics, in memory of Prof. Owen Davies, Head of Statistics 1968-1975, was awarded to Cordelia Bryant and James Anstey for their performance in Statistics.

T.V. Davies Prizes for Applied Mathematics, in memory of Prof. T.V. Davies, Head of Applied Mathematics 1958-1967, were awarded to Stephan Gambart and Will Townsend for excellent performance in Applied Mathematics.

 

 

The Clive Pollard Prize for Mathematics, named for a former student who graduated in Pure Mathematics in 1972, was awarded to Ellie Smith, Alaw Jones and Artur Andrijauskas for their improved performance in the final year.

The George Lee Award, inaugurated this year in memory of a former student for exceptional performance on the MMath degree, was given to James Watkins. 

Stephan Gambart and Ellie Hyam also receive prizes from the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) for the best overall performance.

Prizes have also been awarded to non-finalists; we will congratulate these students in person when they return in September.
