Student Profile

Emma Aoife Hall

(BSc Veterinary Biosciences)

"I studied Veterinary Biosciences and was in the first group of students to have graduated in the degree in 2018.

I am now in my second year of Veterinary Medicine in The university of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacology, Kosice, Slovakia. And I am not the only Aber Alumni to attend there.

My time in Aberystwyth flew by. Within IBERS the staff and tutors were there for you every step of the way. Hearing other friends experiences from different Universities, I know we were extremely lucky to have such dedication from them to our learning. The relationship you built with each lecturer reflected in results and being able to feel like you weren't alone from day one (as Aber is a bit daunting being a bit out of the way, however once you are there, you never want to leave).

The Universities diversity in sports groups and societies was most definitely my favorite thing to look back on. I was part of the women's first hockey team, and played in BUC's and varsity. The people I met were there for you no matter what. Being apart of a society allowed you to meet people you may not have otherwise, and makes you feel so a part of Team Aber, I wear my team colours with pride as I know many past Alumni do. Super Teams is something you have to experience!!!

Veterinary Biosciences has opened the world of Animals science and Veterinary science to me. The subjects we studied has shown to be completely relevant and puts me in an excellent place in my current studies. I have been able to advance through module's with ease and with the depth that IBERS went into, has aided in exemptions from subjects within UVMPs course, allowing me to focus on different areas of study. If you want to work in this field, I definitely recommend this University.

If you choose to come to Aberystwyth, don't let the quiet town fool you, get to the fresher fairs, join groups and find your people. It's easy to get comfortable with the people you are placed with in dorms but I definitely recommend branching out. You can never have too many friends."
