Global Citizens Scholarship

Scholarships for all international students worth up to £18,000 plus free accommodation for at least one year.  

At Aberystwyth University, we are proud to offer financial support to welcome international students from around the world. 

Our Global Citizens Scholarship is designed to ensure our high quality education remains accessible to international students across Undergraduate (Bachelors), Postgraduate Taught (Masters), and Postgraduate Research (PhD) degree programmes. 

Eligible students will receive tuition fee discounts as detailed below, which can be combined with other scholarships including our International Accommodation Award, offering free accommodation to international students. Together, these awards significantly reduce the overall cost of studying in the UK.

      Who is eligible?

      To receive the Global Citizens Scholarship, applicants must:

      • Be classified as an international fee-paying student and have applied to an eligible degree programme by the 1st August. 
      • Meet standard academic entry requirements for their chosen programme of study and have received an offer to study. 
      • Not be in receipt of any other external scholarships, funding or bursaries from organisations outside the University. 

      How to apply?

      • There is no separate application form needed for the Global Citizens Scholarship. 
      • During your application for your degree programme, you will automatically be assessed and granted the scholarship provided you meet all the eligibility criteria. 
      • Eligibility is determined based on your status as an international fee-paying student and the details submitted in your Aberystwyth university application. 

      Terms & Conditions 

       

      • Discounts are applied directly to annual tuition fees. 
      • Must be admitted to an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate course at Aberystwyth University.  
      • Must meet standard academic entry requirements for their chosen programme of study.  
      • You must have applied for a relevant course by the 1st August. 
      • The scholarship discount is applied annually for the standard duration of the registered course, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and retains their international fee-paying status. 
      • The Global Citizens Award applies to tuition fees only and cannot be used to cover accommodation, living costs, or miscellaneous university expenses.  
      • You must be a new student from the academic year 2027/28 onwards, classed as an international fee-payer to be eligible for the Global Citizens Scholarship.
      • The award is not applicable to students who are classified as ‘home fee-payers’.  
      • The award is not applicable to the BVSc Veterinary Science degree, the BSc Nursing (Adult) degree, or the BSc Nursing (Mental Health) degree.  
      • The award is not applicable to Distance Learning programmes. 
      • The award is not applicable on any degree programmes offered by Aberystwyth University overseas. 
      • The award is not applicable to students with external funding, e.g. Chevening, Commonwealth or other scholarships from an organisation outside Aberystwyth University.  
      • The University reserves the right to vary all or any awards, discounts and regulations at its sole discretion.
