Who is eligible:

• Applicant must be classified as an international fee-paying student and have applied to an eligible degree programme by the 1st August. 
• Applicant must meet standard academic entry requirements for their chosen programme of study and have received an offer to study.
• Applicant must not be in receipt of any other external scholarships, funding or bursaries from organisations outside the University. 

Who is not eligible:

• Students who are classified as ‘home fee-payers’. 
• Applicants to the BVSc Veterinary Science degree.
• Applicants to the BSc Nursing (Adult) or BSc Nursing (Mental Health).
• Applicants with external funding, e.g. Chevening, Commonwealth or other scholarships from an organisation outside Aberystwyth University.  
• Students on Distance Learning programmes.
• Students on any degree programmes offered by Aberystwyth University overseas.  

• There is no separate application form needed for the Global Citizens Scholarship. 

• During your application for your degree programme, you will automatically be assessed and granted the scholarship provided you meet all the eligibility criteria. 

• Eligibility is determined based on your status as an international fee-paying student and the details submitted in your Aberystwyth university application. 

• Discounts are applied directly to annual tuition fees. 

• Can be combined with the International Accommodation Award.  

• Can be combined with one of the following awards if eligible International Family Award, Aber Grad Global Scholarship, or Caru Aber International Award. 

• Must be admitted to an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate course at Aberystwyth University.  

• Must meet standard academic entry requirements for their chosen programme of study.  

• You must have applied for a relevant course by the 1st August. 

• The scholarship discount is applied annually for the standard duration of the registered course, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and retains their international fee-paying status. 

• The Global Citizens Award applies to tuition fees only and cannot be used to cover accommodation, living costs, or miscellaneous university expenses.  
• You must be a new student from the academic year 2027/28 onwards, classed as an international fee-payer to be eligible for the Global Citizens Award.
• The award is not applicable to students who are classified as ‘home fee-payers’.  

• The award is not applicable to the BVSc Veterinary Science degree, the BSc Nursing (Adult) degree, or the BSc Nursing (Mental Health) degree.  

• The award is not applicable to Distance Learning programmes. 

• The award is not applicable on any degree programmes offered by Aberystwyth University overseas. 

• The award is not applicable to students with external funding, e.g. Chevening, Commonwealth or other scholarships from an organisation outside Aberystwyth University.  
• The University reserves the right to vary all or any awards, discounts and regulations at its sole discretion.
