Complete your FAFSA
The first step of your journey is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. You can do this on the Federal Student Aid website. Aberystwyth University's school code is G08452, and our OPEID is 00845200.
Financial Package Request
You can now request a financial package. We are not automatically notified when a student has selected our institution on their FAFSA. Therefore, once you have completed your FAFSA, please fill out the Financial Package Request Form. You must accept your offer from Aberystwyth University before filling out the request form.

Financial Package
From June onwards, we will be sending out financial packages via email. Included in the package is the Cost of Attendance to inform you of the amount of loan you can borrow and the types of loans you can borrow. This is a good time to continue with your application to the University and your visa (if applicable).
The financial package includes:
- Cost of Attendance (COA): A document showing the amount of money it will cost for you to attend your chosen course.
- COA Calculator: A calculator for you to create your own COA estimates, to help you to decide how much to take out.
- Loan Eligibility: A document that includes the total monetary amount of loans you are eligible for.
- Next Steps: A document outlining the next steps you must complete to progress with your application. IMPORTANT: This also includes the link to confirm and request loan amounts.
Complete the Next Steps
Within the financial package is a PDF titled 'Next Steps'. Please refer to the checklist and read the tasks. Finally, complete the Loan Request form (link provided within 'Next Steps').
Funding Confirmation Letter
Once your loans have been originated you will receive a Funding Confirmation Letter (Financial Aid Award Letter) which details the loan amounts and the disbursement dates. Please read the accompanying email carefully as it contains important information regarding actions to be taken before loans can be disbursed. This letter should be used to satisfy visa requirements.
Collecting Bank Details and Receiving your Money
We use Convera to disburse funds to students quickly and efficiently. Therefore, links to input bank details will be sent after origination and when you are on campus. To avoid the funds being manipulated by the exchange rate twice, we recommend that you open a UK bank account.

Disbursements
A loan disbursement notification will be sent to you prior to each disbursement. If you do not receive one at least a week in advance, please contact internationalfunding@aber.ac.uk. To read more on how disbursements work please refer to the document below.
