An investigation of rural Welsh cinemas: their histories, memories and communities

Supervisors: Dr Kate Egan (Aberystwyth) and Professor Chris Williams (Cardiff)

My PhD project, funded by the AHRC SWWDTP, aims to uncover the histories of rural Welsh cinemas and the memories of their audiences.

Both my BA and MA are from Aberystwyth University, having first joined the department in 2009 as an undergraduate. My academic interests include: the history of cinema exhibition, memories of cinemagoing, the evolution of cinema technology, contemporary and historical rural cinema exhibition practices, and how national identity is represented through film.
