Pre-Registration

Important Information for Pre-Registration 2026/2027

Please read the following notes carefully before proceeding

General Information

1.    All students who will be continuing with their studies in 2026/2027 are required to pre-register their module choices.

NB. The following groups of students will not be required to complete the pre-registration process as their modules will automatically be approved:
•    Students embarking on a Sandwich/Abroad placement which is an integral part of their degree.
•    Students who have core modules totalling 120 credits.

2.    You can access details of your study scheme and core modules for 2026/2027 from your Student Record on the web. It is essential that you follow the instructions for your department(s) as individual departmental requirements may vary.

3.    Pre-Registration is split into two parts: a Consultation Period and a Module Registration Period.

  • The Consultation Period runs from Monday, 20 April until Wednesday, 22 April.  During this period, you will have access to view next session’s data on your Student Record, but you'll be unable to enter your module choices.
  • The Module Registration Period runs from Thursday, 23 April until Friday, 01 May.  During this period, your Student Record will be unlocked to allow you to enter your module choices following discussions with your department(s).

4.    You must consult the Study Schemes Database and Modules Database information on the web to ensure that you meet departmental requirements and register for the relevant modules.

5.    You must check the departmental requirements for Pre-Registration, ensuring you attend any meetings before entering your module choices for next session on your Student Record.

6.    You are required to ensure the total number of credits entered on your record does not exceed the number you are required to study. The following checks are in place:
•     You will not be able to remove any core modules from your record.  If there are special circumstances which mean you will not be pursuing a core module next session, you should contact your department.
•     You will not be able to input modules you have previously taken.
•     You should not have more than a 70:50/50:70 credit split between semesters.
•     If you enter a module in the wrong semester it will automatically be moved to the correct one.
•     The system will only allow you to enter the number of credits you are required to pursue next session.

7.    You must ensure you have entered all your choices by FRIDAY 01 MAY at the latest. Once your department(s) have confirmed your choices you will receive an email to confirm this has been done. You will be able to view your modules for the next session on your Student Record on the web under the "My Courses" card: from the drop-down menu, choose the 2026/27 session (the option starting "2027").

Students who wish to Change Study Scheme

8.    If you wish to change your study scheme next session you must first discuss it with your department, and then process a Change of Registration request online via your Student Record.  Your Change of Registration MUST be approved and processed BEFORE you can continue with Pre-Registration.  Please note that changing your study scheme online is only possible if you have previously followed the core and option modules for your new scheme.

To request a Change of Registration, go to the "Making Changes to My Course" card on your Student Record, then choose "I want to change my scheme or modules".  A pop-up should appear to re-direct you to a different screen.  From here, follow the on-screen instructions.  Further guidance can be found on the Changing your Study Scheme or Modules page.

9.    It is imperative you inform your Student Loan Company or other financial sponsor as soon as the change has been approved to ensure the smooth transfer of your loan and award (if you receive any) before the beginning of next session.

Students taking a Year Out

10.    Students embarking on a Sandwich/Abroad placement next session will see there are already modules totalling 120 credits on their records. The modules recorded for you will show that you are on placement and you will be classified as a full-time student. Your modules will automatically be approved, however it is important that you complete the Online Registration task in September to confirm that you are embarking on your placement.  You will be able to register online via your Student Record from outside the University intranet in September.

11.    If you propose to go on a Year in Employment (YES placement) next session you should click on the appropriate option from the drop down menu to indicate your intentions.

12.    If you propose to go on an Exchange placement next session you should click on the appropriate option from the drop down menu to indicate your intentions. If you are only going out for one semester you should only enter 60 credits in the semester when you will be in Aberystwyth.

13.    Students wishing to interrupt their studies, e.g. on personal or medical grounds, should consult with their department(s) before completing the online Withdrawal process from the Student Record.
