Ways to collaborate with us

Aberystwyth University is committed to supporting students who may face additional employability barriers due to their backgrounds. Through Career Readiness Support (CRS) we provide tailored employability support to help underrepresented students build the skills, confidence and networks needed for graduate success. We invite employers, individuals, and training providers to collaborate with us by offering flexible, meaningful experiences (delivered virtually or in person) that empower students. As well as investing in a student’s future by offering them the chance to find out more about your organisation, role and sector, you could identify prospective new recruits, benefit from a different perspective and have an opportunity to demonstrate your social responsibility. Below are some suggestions of how to get involved.

  • One-to-one Meet the Professional: Share your career journey, role and the key skills needed in your sector in a one-to-virtual or in-person meeting with one of our students
  • Group Meet the Professional: We collaborate with other Welsh universities to offer industry or skills-specific group meetings
  • Bespoke Work Taster: Host a student for a short period (up to two weeks) of unpaid work experience to help them explore roles, meet staff and build confidence
  • Group Work Taster: Welcome a group of students to explore your sector, meet staff, and try workplace activities
  • Workshop: Collaborate with us in delivering virtual or in-person workshops on topics such as networking, interviews and workplace skills

We’re keen to hear about volunteering opportunities, graduate schemes and paid placements that could improve the employability of our participants. Please email crsupport@aber.ac.uk if you’re interested in partnering with us.

Information for AU staff

We encourage referrals from staff who may work closely with students who face barriers to graduate-level employment. Career Readiness Support (CRS) offers tailored employability development for those feeling uncertain about the future, whether due to low confidence, limited work experience, or a lack of professional networks.

To make a referral, please review the eligibility criteria with the student and direct them to register their interest. Alternatively, you are welcome to refer them to us by emailing crsupport@aber.ac.uk with the student copied in and we’ll make contact directly.
