'In Search of Celtic Tylis’ – The Welsh Department and Bulgaria

On the 8th of May 2010 Dr Simon Rodway, a lecturer in the Welsh Department, and Dr Alexander Falileyev, a Research Fellow in the Department will travel to Bulgaria to contribute to an interdisciplinary colloquium held in the National Institute of Archaeology with Museum (NIAM) in Sofia.

Hay Festival Interviews 2010

Dr Robin Chapman, who won Book of the Year in 1994, and subsequently reached the Long List and the Short List, will be interviewing two of this year's long-listed authors at the Hay Festival on Monday 31May.

Welsh Department's League Table Success

The Welsh Department has secured a notable result in the Times Good University Guide 2011 league table. Excellent student satisfaction and improved graduate prospects means that the department is third amongst UK Celtic departments, and is top among Welsh Departments for the standard of its research.

New research experiment - Who is T.H. Parry-Williams

On Wednesday 4th August, (between 9.00am and 12.00pm) Dr Robin Chapman, along with Dr Dafydd Sills-Jones from The Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies, will try to establish the significance of T.H. Parry-Williams' poems in contemporary Wales.

New Welsh Degree Scheme

From 2011 an additional Welsh degree scheme, 'Cymraeg Proffesiynol' ('Professional Welsh') will be available to Aberystwyth Welsh Department students. This 'gold standard' degree in Welsh will give students the opportunity to develop skills which will allow them to use the Welsh language confidently in a variety of professional contexts and in the workplace.
