Social Research Lab

Students having a discussion in a classroom

The Social Research Lab offers a creative and supportive space within which staff and students with research interests related to the social sciences can receive advice and feedback on their work.

The Lab differs from the Department's Seminar Series to the extent that it focuses less on completed work delivered in formal presentations and instead considers emerging research ideas and problems. The Social Research Lab can offer feedback on draft papers, methodological conundrums, and data analysis challenges. The Lab’s ethos is one of supportive candour within which participants feel comfortable talking about challenges they may be facing, and contributors offer sincere reflections on the work of others.

Submissions could include drafts of the following:

  • Papers to be submitted to a journal
  • Book chapters
  • Dissertation chapters
  • Research grant proposals
  • Conference presentations.
