Entry Requirements

Foundation

Successful completion of the Bachiller Academico with Desempeno alto / 70% overall.

Undergraduate

GCE A levels (or equivalent). Offers can vary depending on the course but are typically in the range of 104 - 128 UCAS tariff points. Applicants with a recognised International Foundation Year will also be considered.

Postgraduate

Degree equivalent to UK Honours bachelor’s degree (2:2 minimum). Compare your academic qualification below:

If you require help or assistance with your English then our International English Centre will be pleased to offer assistance and guidance. The Centre offers an intensive full-time course available before you commence your degree and provides ongoing support throughout the duration of your studies.

Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship (Postgraduate)	£2,000 - £3,000 tuition fee discount	Students with an equivalent of a UK First Honours degree will be eligible for a £3,000 discount. Students with an equivalent of a UK Upper Second (2:1) or Lower Second (2:2) degree will receive a £2,000 discount. Students must be self-funded and not receive any other scholarships apart from the International Accommodation Award.
International Accommodation Award (Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate)	International students are eligible to receive inclusive university accommodation for each year of studies. What do you love about Aberystwyth and Aberystwyth University?

I love the small-town vibe of Aberystwyth—the calm atmosphere, the sense of security, and the close-knit community. The Welsh landscapes are incredible, with endless opportunities for hikes and bike rides, and the people are genuinely warm. At the University, I value how connected Aberystwyth and IBERS are to the wider UK research network. That link with other universities, institutes, and industry creates great opportunities for collaboration, development, and future careers.

What have you enjoyed most about your course?

As a PhD student, I’ve really appreciated the constant support from both the University and my supervisory team. I was encouraged to explore new research ideas and present my work at academic and industrial conferences, which meant I travelled a lot and built a strong network. I also enjoyed working with professionals from so many different backgrounds and institutions.

How did you find adjusting to life in Aberystwyth?

The warm and friendly community made settling in very easy. At first I struggled a bit with adapting my cooking to local ingredients, but over time I found my own mix of Welsh/British cuisine and Colombian flavours. The language and cultural differences took a little time to get used to, but eventually everything felt natural.

What advice would you give someone considering studying at Aberystwyth University?

Think about whether you’d enjoy life in a quiet seaside town—if so, Aber is a great fit. I’d also recommend looking closely at the academics working in your subject area. The University has excellent researchers and strong funding, so it’s worth checking how their interests align with your own career goals.

Have you joined any student clubs or societies and what have you enjoyed about them?

I joined the hiking club for a while and loved it. Wales is full of beautiful landscapes and breathtaking views, and the hikes were a fantastic way to explore the country and meet new people.
