Brief description

During this module students will be working mainly independently on a suitable project of their own choice but with guidance from their supervisor. Students will: plan their own work; conduct a literature survey; plan data collection; collect, analyse and present data; draw conclusions and evaluate the findings. This work will be presented as a basic scientific report (paper) and an oral presentation.


This module is at CQFW Level


During individual sessions with their supervisor (minimum of 5 x 2 hours) students will be given guidance on:
• Selection of a suitable project for independent work.
• Planning and conducting the research/data collection
• Presenting the data an appropriate form
• Critically assessing the results of the research/data collection
• Writing a scientific paper/report on the project
• Giving an oral presentation on the project and answering related questions

Assistance is also given with conducting the research / data collection through 4 hours field work.
