This course is suitable for experienced learners who wish to further develop their digital drawing and painting skills. Leaners may already have completed the first Digital Drawing and Painting course with Lifelong Learning and this 10-credit module will consider how to develop further skills in this field.
You will be developing your own digital painting by applying and expanding on previously learned skills. You will create a digital portfolio of tasks and ideas, and demonstrate your technical skills by screenshotting and video capturing yourself working. We will cover painting skills, developing texture and detail, as well as providing useful tips and demonstrations on creating a detailed, finished digital painting.
Each unit will enable you to practice technique, develop your ideas, reflect upon what you have learnt and conduct research to complement your study and extend your learning.
Learners should aim to complete at least 100 hours of study (even more is advisable) to get the most out of this module and to fulfil the criteria for the course. All module content is accessed through our online learning portal; you need access to a computer, camera/phone camera and to be proficient in using email.
Please note that you will need access to a drawing tablet such as an iPad or Wacom drawing tablet with Adobe Photoshop or Procreate software. Adobe Photoshop can purchased on a monthly basis.
Your assessment is an ongoing process that takes place throughout the course and will involve photographic evidence/screengrab or video demonstration of all the work done throughout the module. You will need to send all written work, photographs of notes taken, together with practical exercises, and photographs/screengrabs of larger pieces and final artwork which forms your portfolio, to your tutor. Sending your work regularly to the tutor will enable you to receive valuable feedback and assessment - this process is to support you; it will enable you to develop your artistic skills and your ability to reflect and evaluate your progress.
