This online course explores the relationship between creative writing and personal wellbeing. Through journaling, reflective writing, storytelling, poetry, and nature writing, learners will discover how writing can support self-awareness, mindfulness, emotional expression, and personal growth.

The course introduces a range of practical techniques that encourage reflection and exploration, helping learners develop a sustainable writing practice while gaining a deeper understanding of their own experiences and narratives. Topics include expressive writing, narrative identity, resilience, and meaning-making, providing opportunities to use writing as a tool for wellbeing and self-discovery.

Suitable for beginners and experienced writers alike, this course offers a supportive and reflective approach to creative writing, with no prior writing experience required.

This online course lets you study from home while connecting with a vibrant virtual community of fellow learners. The course is delivered through Blackboard, our online learning environment, and any live sessions will be hosted via Teams. It can be studied as a stand-alone course, and it is also an optional module for the Certificate of Higher Education in Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University.
