This course is for people who want to start writing poetry, or those who are already writing poetry, but would find it helpful to take a fresh look at the nuts and bolts of how poetry works. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about elements of poetic form and technique and begin to build a portfolio of their own work. They are encouraged to write between sessions and receive supportive feedback on their poems.
The course will consist of three live online Teams sessions, offering a chance to meet each other, to ask questions, write together and discuss example texts. The final week will include a celebration of students’ work. Students will be encouraged to share their own work and participate in discussions on Blackboard. Alongside the learning materials on Blackboard the tutor will be on hand via email to answer any queries and provide guidance throughout the course. They will also participate in the online discussions
