Russian Advanced 1

Students will be able to show their ability to understand and respond to Russian Language.
This course will put emphasis on conversation, reading, writing and listening. All these skills will be present in every class.
A wide range of activities is undertaken, such as practical language exercises, work into and out of Russian and vocabulary-building activities.
Students will also continue with the acquisition of grammar, which will enable students to reach an higher appreciation of the functioning and conventions of Russian.
The course will enable students to achieve an advanced level of Russian, to build the fluency, range and depth of their use of the foreign language in the four main areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Commercially produced and in-house language materials from a variety of sources are used.
A systematic review of grammar points to consolidate students’ knowledge and understanding
Translation into Russian, to reinforce such grammar points
Oral presentations, with the emphasis on pronunciation, accuracy and presentation skills
A series of ‘How to’ sessions, such as: How to use a dictionary; How to build vocabulary; How to build your language awareness; How to make an oral presentation
