The most recent edition of Dwned, edited by Dr Bleddyn Huws from the Department, and Dr A. Cynfael Lake from Swansea University is now available. One contributor is A. Howard Williams, a research student from the Department. His article, based on the extended essay he wrote as and undergraduate, has allowed him to combine his interest in birds with his love of mediaeval poetry.

The Drama Medal at the Urdd National Eisteddfod
in Cardiff 2009 was won by one of the Department’s PhD students.
Welsh Students Confident

Despite concerns about the effect of the present economic situation on employers demand for new staff, a survey by the Welsh Department has given results which indicate that prospective graduates in the subject believe that a degree in Welsh is a qualification which will help them to find future employment.
Sixth Form Course

A very successful one-day course for Year 13 first language pupils was held at the Old College on 2nd October 2009. This ‘taster’ day gave pupils the opportunity to hear staff from the Welsh Department lecture on some interesting A Level syllabus topics.
