Campus Tours - Frequently Asked Questions
The Tour Itself
What will I expect on one of the Tours?
The Campus Tour will be a walking tour and will take approximately an hour. We will be able to show you the location of academic departments*, some on-campus facilities, and a selection of accommodation options. This is a great opportunity to get a feel for the University location and surrounding area.
*At present, the tour will not include taking you into academic departments and meeting academic members of staff.
How long does the Campus Tour last?
The Campus Tour approximately lasts 60 minutes.
What time should I arrive for the Campus Tour?
You should arrive at least 10 minutes before your booked time so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Who will be taking me on the Tour?
The Campus Tours will be led by one of our trained ambassadors. This would be the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions about the course(s) they are studying, what it’s like to be a student in Aberystwyth, what the town is like and much more.
What should I wear?
The Campus Tour is a walking tour and the campus itself is located on a hill so we would advise all attendees to bring suitable footwear and be prepared for all weather.
All visitors will be expected to wear a face-covering while indoors on all Aberystwyth University sites. We can provide you with a face covering, but you may also bring your own if you wish. If you have specific circumstances which mean you cannot wear a face covering, please let us know when you arrive.
Will I be able to go into an academic department as part of my visit?
Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, most buildings on campus have limited access, therefore you will be unable to enter academic buildings. However, we look forward to walking you through our beautiful campus and showing you the location of academic departments, on-campus facilities and accommodation.
Will I be able to see all available accommodation?
We will be able to take you some of our ‘on campus’ accommodation. For further information and to view the inside of our accommodation virtually, please follow this link: https://virtual-tour.aber.ac.uk/
Does the Campus Tour include seeing the sports facilities?
You will be able to see some of our sports facilities whilst on the Campus Tour. Not all sports facilities are on Campus but our Sports Centre is. You will have the opportunity to see the majority of offered facilities seen here: https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/sportscentre/facilities/
Will there be somewhere for me to park?
Yes, there will be reserved parking spaces for those booked onto Campus Tours.
Once you’ve signed up for a Campus Tour you should receive a follow up email soon after with directions to the meeting point. Following these instructions, you should be greeted with appropriate signage near to the destination, which will guide you to an appropriate parking space.
What financial support is available?
Following your visit you will need to complete and return a Campus Tour Travel Expense Claim Form, which we will send to you after your visit (you can claim up to a maximum of £75.00 dependent on distance of travel).
Please note, reimbursements only apply to applicants (offer holders for 2021 or 2022 entry).
Your Safety and Wellbeing
What Safety measures will be in place during the Tour?
