Centre for Glaciology Research Activities

The Centre for Glaciology is committed to providing high-quality outreach and public engagement concerning the processes and responses of the Earth's past and present ice masses. Here's just a selection of our outreach activites:

Television

Led by Prof. Alun Hubbard, CfG researchers have guided and featured in several TV documentaries, most notably Frozen Planet and Operation Iceberg, that detail the response of the Greenland Ice Sheet to climatic variability.

Operation Iceberg – Official BBC site and BBC Blog of the expedition

Newspapers and online reports

CfG research undertaken in Greenland, Patagonia and Svalbard, for example, has been reported in several UK-based and international newspapers – read some of the reports here (external links):

Websites

Glaciers Online – co-founded by Prof. Mike Hambrey, the Glaciers Online website is world’s most comprehensive repository of glacially-inspired photographs, indexed via an incredibly useful photoglossary! (External Link)

Antarctic Glaciers – Created by Dr. Bethan Davies, the Antarctic Glaciers website is a one-stop shop for all things glacial, stretching far beyond what the title suggests. Regular blogs and regular updates = a great read! (External Link)
